Khudai Khidmatgar Mobilises Relief for Flood Victims in Punjab and Delhi

New Delhi: Punjab is facing its worst floods since 1988, with more than 1,400 villages submerged and over three lakh acres of crops destroyed. Brick kiln workers, daily wagers, and small farmers have seen their fragile livelihoods swept away. In Delhi, families displaced by the swelling Yamuna are taking refuge in temporary shelters. Amid this devastation, Khudai Khidmatgar, a grassroots volunteer organisation founded by freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, has launched wide-ranging relief operations.

Speaking with Radiance News, Faisal Khan said the organisation is active in Punjab’s Firozpur, Fazilka, and Faridkot districts under the leadership of Dharamveer Singh and Mukhtiyar Singh. “We have been working with brick kiln workers through our education centres. Now, with the kilns flooded, these families have no income. They need immediate relief,” Singh said. Teams have distributed food, clothing, and essentials while helping families reach safer ground.

Support has poured in from across states. Tasleem Mev from Mewat led trucks of food, water, buckets, and sheets to Ludhiana and Kapurthala. From Panipat, M. M. Islam coordinated three truckloads of supplies. In Uttarakhand, Saad Kidwai collected groceries for distribution, while in Uttar Pradesh, Mohammad Yassir gathered financial contributions from Hapur for rehabilitation.

In Delhi, Khudai Khidmatgar teams led by Samira, Shail Devi, Roshni, Ishrat Jahan, Asad, and Haseeb are supporting families in Vishwakarma Colony, Basantpur Village, Khadda Colony, and Wazirabad. They distribute milk, bread, and breakfast while running a community kitchen. “Food is the first need for families who lost everything overnight. We wanted to make sure no child sleeps hungry,” said Samira.

Dharamveer Singh underlined the organisation’s long-term goal. “Relief is only the beginning. The real test is helping families rebuild their lives with dignity.”
