Law Student Assaulted Inside Lucknow University Campus, FIR Registered

Lucknow: A second-year BA LLB student was assaulted and threatened inside the campus of a private university in Chinhat on August 26. The victim, identified as Shikhar, was attacked by a group of fellow students while he was still recovering from a recent ligament and knee surgery.

According to the FIR lodged by his father, Mukesh Kumar Kesarwani, Shikhar was picked up by his friend Soumya Singh Yadav and driven to the campus. Once parked, five students, identified as Ayush Yadav, Jhanvi Mishra, Milay Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla, entered the vehicle and confronted him. For nearly 45 minutes, they allegedly abused and intimidated him.

The complaint states that Ayush Yadav and Jhanvi Mishra slapped Shikhar 50 to 60 times. Videos of the assault were recorded by Vivek Singh and Milay Banerjee and later circulated among students. The attackers also deleted data from Shikhar’s phone and damaged the device. Before leaving, they allegedly threatened him not to attend college again.

Police registered an FIR under relevant sections, and investigation is ongoing. SHO DS Mishra confirmed that those named in the complaint have been identified.

The incident raises concern over the growing trend of student violence and moral decline on campuses. Cases of group intimidation and physical abuse are becoming frequent, reflecting a serious lapse in discipline and accountability in educational institutions.
