Sahibganj: Panic spread in Kherwa village under Barhet police station after a man was shot while returning from prayer late Wednesday night. According to reports, 52-year-old Badrul Haq was attacked by fellow villager Alam Ansari, who had allegedly been waiting in ambush.
As Badrul Haq stepped out after offering namaz at the mosque, the assailant fired directly at his chest. The bullet pierced through, leaving him critically injured. Witnesses said the attacker then fired two more rounds in the air to spread fear in the locality before fleeing the scene. The incident has been reported by Dainik Bhaskar.
Hearing the gunshots, villagers rushed to the spot and informed the police. Soon after, SI Asim Kujur, ASI Ashok Singh, and ASI Raghuveer Ram arrived with a police team. The injured was shifted to the Barhet Community Health Centre. Dr. Santosh Tudu, who attended him, confirmed that the bullet had passed through his chest and referred him to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment.
Police officials said the attack appears to be the result of a personal dispute. Raids are being carried out to trace and arrest the accused, who remains absconding. The incident has created fear among residents of the village.
