Kuwait: The Gulf Cooperation Council honoured Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, for her pioneering contributions to social development in the UAE.
The recognition was announced during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the 11th meeting of GCC Ministers of Social Affairs and Development. The event was attended by senior Gulf officials, including Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al Sabah, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General.
Sheikha Shamma was nominated by the UAE Ministry of Community Empowerment. The Ministry praised her leadership in cultural, educational, and youth initiatives. It highlighted her work in strengthening Emirati identity and values, empowering youth, and expanding social inclusion.
The Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions were described as a regional model, offering diverse programs that reach wide segments of society. Their activities have included cultural events, educational programmes, and initiatives designed to prepare younger generations for future challenges.
The GCC honour forms part of a broader effort to highlight individuals and institutions driving innovative community initiatives across the region. Officials noted that such recognition encourages governments and organisations to share successful experiences and broaden their social impact.
In her remarks, Sheikha Shamma expressed gratitude for the honour and underlined the responsibility it carries. She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing cultural and social projects through her institution, stressing the importance of sustained collaboration in community development.
