Hyderabad: Telangana Urdu Academy organized the Best Urdu Teacher Award ceremony at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Basheerbagh, to recognize the outstanding services of Urdu teachers across the state. The event was presided over by Academy Chairman Tahir Bin Hamdan. Minister for Minority Welfare A. Laxman Kumar attended as the chief guest and presented the awards to the selected teachers.
The Best Urdu Teacher Award is one of the Academy’s key schemes aimed at acknowledging the contributions of educators to the promotion of Urdu language and culture. For the year 2022, 73 teachers out of 130 were selected, while in 2023, 100 out of 198 were awarded. In total, 173 Urdu teachers received recognition for their dedicated service.
Prominent dignitaries present at the event included Telangana State Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, Telangana Minority Commission Chairman Tariq Ansari, Secretary of Minority Welfare B. Shafi Ullah, and Chairman of the Telangana Minority Finance Corporation Abdullah Kotwal. Senior journalist M.A. Majid and a large number of Urdu enthusiasts also attended.
Speakers highlighted the vital role of Urdu teachers in nurturing the language among new generations and praised their commitment in diverse districts of Telangana. The event was marked by applause for the awardees who were hailed as role models for their community service in education.
The ceremony concluded with a collective acknowledgment of the importance of Urdu in the state’s cultural fabric and a renewed commitment to support initiatives for its growth.
