Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has raised concerns over the cleanliness of the Ganga River, stating that he would not take a holy dip in it. Speaking on the 19th foundation day of his party, Thackeray urged people to “come out of superstition and use their heads properly” when it comes to the river’s purity.
He revealed that Bala Nandgaonkar, an MNS leader, had brought holy water from the recent Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, but he refused to drink it due to concerns over pollution.
Thackeray also criticized the state of rivers in India, comparing them to cleaner rivers abroad. This comes despite a pollution control board report stating that Ganga water is fit for bathing.
