Jaipur: In the recently concluded by-elections for seven assembly seats in Rajasthan, the ruling BJP emerged victorious on five seats: Jhunjhunu, Khinvsar, Deoli-Uniara, Salumber, and Ramgarh. The Congress managed to win only one seat (Dausa) out of the four it previously held, while the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) retained its hold on the Chorasi seat.
In the Chorasi assembly by-election, Anil Kumar Katara of Bharat Adivasi Party won by 24370 votes. Katara defeated BJP’s Kari Lal. Congress stood third here.
In the Dausa assembly by-election, Congress’s Deendayal won by 2300 votes. Deendayal defeated Minister Kirori Lal Meena’s brother BJP candidate Jagmohan Meena. Minister Meena suffered a major setback from Dausa. He had also tried to get a ticket for his brother in the Lok Sabha elections.
In the Deoli Uniara assembly by-election, BJP’s Rajendra Gurjar won by 41121 votes. Rajendra Gurjar defeated independent Naresh Meena. Congress stood third from here. On the Deoli-Uniyara seat, which came into the limelight due to the slap incident, independent Naresh Meena stood second and Congress’s KC Meena stood third. On the election day, independent candidate Naresh Meena slapped the SDM.
In Jhunjhunu assembly by-election, BJP’s Rajendra Bhambu won by 42848 votes. Bhambu defeated Amit Ola of Congress. Independent Rajendra Gudha came third. Congress has lost the Jhunjhunu seat due to opposition from Muslims. The Muslim community was demanding that a Muslim be made the candidate from here. After 21 years, Congress party has tasted defeat here.
In the Khinvsar assembly by-election, BJP’s Revantram Danga won by 13901 votes. Danga defeated Hanuman Beniwal’s wife Kanika Beniwal. Congress finished third. Congress candidate from Khinvsar Dr. Ratan Chaudhary’s deposit has been forfeited. After the defeat of RLP, it is left with no MLA in Rajasthan.
In the Ramgarh assembly by-election, BJP’s Sukhwant Singh won by 13636 votes. Sukhwant Singh defeated Congress candidate Aryan Zubair, son of former MLA late Zubair Khan.
In the Salumber assembly by-election, BJP’s Shanta Meena won by just 1285 votes. Meena defeated Jitesh Kumar Katara of Baap Party. Congress finished third.
BAP’s Jitesh Kumar Katara was leading in Salumber assembly constituency till the last round. With the counting of the last round, BJP candidate Shanta Devi Meena was declared winning.
