Jaipur – Rajasthan Muslim Forum General Secretary Mohammad Nazimuddin condemned BJP MLA Gopal Sharma’s derogatory remarks against Rajasthan Minority Commission Chairman and Congress Chief Whip Rafiq Khan. He called it the most shameful comment in Rajasthan Assembly history.
Nazimuddin said calling Rafiq Khan, a two-time MLA from Adarsh Nagar, a “Pakistani” in the Assembly insults both the people of Adarsh Nagar and the Indian Constitution. Using such language against an elected representative is unacceptable.
He urged Speaker Vasudev Devnani to take strict action against Gopal Sharma to deter future offensive remarks. He also asked CM Bhajanlal Sharma if his government endorses such language and mindset.
The Forum called the incident an attack on democracy and constitutional dignity, warning that political rhetoric is deteriorating. They stressed that while the opposition must question the government, ruling party MLAs cannot insult them, as it threatens democracy’s dignity.
The Forum demanded immediate intervention by the Speaker and CM, insisting on strict action to uphold democratic values and constitutional respect.
