Mohd Yasar, a 14-year-old boxer from Rajouri district, won gold medal at the U-15 Asian Cup held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Representing India in the 58kg category, the young athlete delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament and secured the Asian title by defeating a competitor from the host nation.
Yasar’s remarkable achievement has brought pride not only to Rajouri and the region but also to J&K and the entire country. His victory has been widely praised by sports officials, coaches, students, and residents, who described it as a historic moment for the region.
According to family members, this was Yasar’s first appearance at an international tournament, making his gold medal triumph even more extraordinary. His family received congratulatory calls from across J&K, Punjab, and other parts of the country. Relatives and well-wishers expressed immense happiness.

Coming from a humble background, Yasar faced numerous financial and social challenges while pursuing his passion for boxing. Despite limited resources, he continued to train with dedication and steadily rose through the ranks, excelling at zonal, district, UT, and national-level competitions before earning a place on the Indian team.

Students, teachers, staff members, and community leaders gathered to express their pride and prepare for a grand welcome upon his return.
