Ranchi: Hundreds of Muslims took to the streets on Sunday under the banner of the Jharkhand Muslim Yuva Manch and allied organisations to demand the immediate formation of the Urdu Education Board and the Madarsa Board in Jharkhand. The protestors also opposed the Jharkhand Academic Council’s move declaring the Alim-Fazil degree unconstitutional.
The demonstrators, carrying placards and banners, began their ‘Prativaad March’ from the National University for Study and Research in Law and concluded at Bazaar Tand in Kanke. The rally drew attention to the state government’s continued inaction on long-pending educational and social concerns of the Muslim community.
Protestors demanded the restoration of 544 schools previously recognized as Urdu educational centres and urged the government to implement the Anti-Mob Lynching Act. Speakers at the protest said that neglecting minority educational structures would deepen marginalisation and hurt thousands of students who depend on these institutions for their learning and certification.
President of the Jharkhand Muslim Yuva Manch, Mohammad Sahid Ayyubi, warned that if the government fails to respond promptly, the organisation would intensify its agitation in a phased manner across the state.
The protest reflected growing frustration among Jharkhand’s Muslim community over the delay in institutional recognition of Urdu education and Islamic scholarship, seen as vital for safeguarding linguistic and cultural rights in the state.
