Mumbai: A special organisational and training session for local in-charges and selected members of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Women’s Department, Mumbai Metro region was held at JIH Maharashtra head office on December 7. The central and zonal women office bearers of JIH emphasised the need for personal growth, leadership, and collective effort in strengthening the community.
JIH National Secretary Shaista Rafat delivered a keynote address titled “The Role of Women in Reclaiming the Past Glory of the Ummah,” in which she highlighted the findings of the Sachar Committee, underscoring the socio-economic and political vulnerabilities of Indian Muslims. She urged participants to emulate the society the Prophet ﷺ established in Madinah.
“We must strengthen the Muslim community and tackle its challenges collectively to restore its lost glory,” she emphasised.
Ms. Rehana, Secretary of JIH Mumbai Western Zone, outlined the session’s objectives, stressing the need for moral and organisational development to achieve the Movement’s vision. She stated, “Regular gatherings at various levels help cultivate this awareness and commitment.”
Mumbai Metro In-charge, Ms. Mumtaz Nazeer presented a detailed 1.5-year activity report, while Ms. Sajida Parveen, Secretary of JIH Maharashtra, Women’s Department urged participants to focus on the term mission of creating a positive public opinion about Islam and Muslims.
In her presidential address, JIH National Secretary, Ms. Rahamathunnisa called for greater urgency in collective efforts, reminding participants that “To establish this Deen, we cannot work alone; we must run together with others. There must be a sense of urgency in our efforts. What is planned for tomorrow must be done today.”
The session concluded with an engaging workshop on leadership and self-improvement – “Towards the Straight Path”. Conducted by Ms. Rahamathunnisa, the workshop inspired the participants to become beacons of change for future generations.
The session began with a Quranic reminder by Ms. Saleha Khanam, Local in-charge of JIH Women Kurla, who elaborated on Surah Al-Imran (3:133), highlighting the importance of striving for Allah’s forgiveness and preparing for Paradise. The programme was anchored by Ms. Seema, of JIH Nala Sopara.
