New Delhi – The President of United Muslims of India (UMI), Maulana Muhammad Khalid Nadwi Ghazipuri, has criticized the central and state governments for engaging in the politics of renaming cities instead of addressing real issues. Presiding over a meeting of the organization, he urged the authorities to fulfill their responsibilities with transparency and work for the welfare of the people.
“Changing the names of cities does not alter historical realities, nor does it make us a developed nation,” Maulana Nadwi asserted. He emphasized that history cannot be erased by distorting facts and that imposing a particular culture will not benefit the country. “The government’s duty is to serve the people and promote national unity at all costs,” he added.
Expressing strong opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Maulana Nadwi called these measures “completely unacceptable.” He further urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their belief in monotheism (Tawheed) and highlighted the spiritual significance of Ramadan. “The holy month is an opportunity for both worldly and spiritual success. Muslims should repent from polytheism and innovations in faith and strive to attain divine blessings,” he stated.
The meeting concluded with a call for unity and vigilance against policies perceived as threats to religious and cultural identity.
