Repeated Attempts to Disrupt Peace in Bhiwandi: Police File Multiple Cases Against Offensive Statements and Banners Targeting a Specific Community

Bhiwandi: In recent days, repeated efforts have been made to disturb the peace and harmony of Bhiwandi. However, due to the vigilance of concerned citizens and strategic actions by the police department, these attempts have been thwarted. This cycle of tension continues, as offensive content such as videos, images, and messages are regularly circulated on social media. While the police have been quick to register cases against such incidents, the lack of strict punitive actions seems to embolden the perpetrators.

Today, the Kongaon and Narpoli police have filed two separate cases against unidentified individuals for attempting to incite communal hatred by putting up banners in different areas. These banners were aimed at spreading discord between two communities. At Pimplaghar, an unidentified person placed a banner near the village’s main gate that contained inflammatory language targeting Muslims.

According to police reports, the banner displayed offensive statements against the Muslim community, using terms like “Rohingya Muslims,” “Bangladeshi Muslims,” and “traitorous terrorists.” It also included threats against Muslim hawkers, warning them to stay out of Pimplaghar or face violence. The banner further depicted images of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Afzal Khan, apparently to stir communal sentiments. Based on a complaint by police constable Saras Hanuman Payal, Kongaon police registered a case against the unidentified person under sections 299, 223, and other relevant laws.

Meanwhile, in Dombivli’s New Jay village, tension escalated when a person posted derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on social media, attempting to incite Hindu-Muslim violence. Messages like “Hindus, be prepared at any moment” were shared, causing unrest not only in Mumbai but also in this town.

As the situation worsened, large crowds began to gather near the Central Jama Masjid in the Zaitoon Pura area. Senior Inspector of Bhoiwada Police quickly intervened, personally arriving at Zaitoon Pura to calm the crowd. He assured them that a complaint had been filed and strict action would be taken against the accused. The crowd dispersed peacefully after his reassurance.
