Representatives of Razakars sitting in Parliament for 40 years: Amit Shah

Hyderabad, May 2: In a scathing attack on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that representatives of Razakars are sitting in the Parliament for the last 40 years.

He called for liberating Hyderabad from Razakars and appealed to people to vote for BJP to join Hyderabad with the mainstream.

Amit Shah on Wednesday night held a roadshow in the old city of Hyderabad in support of BJP candidate K. Madhavi Latha.

The Union Minister remarked that Hyderabad had representation for 40 years. “For 40 years, the representatives of Razakars sat there. There is an opportunity this time. Elect Madhavi Latha with a huge majority,” he told people.

Razakars were the paramilitary volunteer force which tried to help the Nizam government in keeping Hyderabad State independent after India gained independence in 1947.

Hyderabad State merged with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948 following Operation Polo, popularly known as ‘Police Action’.

Amit Shah also said that nobody needs to bow their head. “No one can dare touch anybody in Hyderabad,” he said.

“This time vote with a free mind. Whether Hindus or Muslims, every voter should press the Lotus button to join Hyderabad with the mainstream,” he said.

He also said that Hyderabad should be in the list of 400 Lok Sabha seats the BJP is aiming to win in these elections.

Amit Shah is the second central minister to campaign on AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi’s home turf in these elections.

Earlier, Anurag Singh Thakur had led the nomination rally of Madhavi Latha.

Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency is considered the stronghold of AIMIM as the party remained undefeated here since 1984.

Asaduddin Owaisi is seeking re-election for a fifth term. Earlier, his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was elected from here for six terms.
