Ghalib Institute Opens Three-Day International Research Scholars’ Seminar
New Delhi: The three-day International Research Scholars Seminar, organized by Ghalib Institute, commenced with a focus on exploring various aspects of research and providing young scholars with training opportunities. Delivering the keynote address at the event held at Aiwan-e-Ghalib here Friday, Professor Anwar Pasha emphasized the significance of research, stating that it holds the right to question both known and unknown truths. He further stressed that authentic evidence and proofs are the foundation of research, driving progress and development.
Professor Pasha also highlighted the necessity of comparative studies and multilingual skills for researchers, enabling them to explore diverse perspectives and uncover new possibilities in their work. He expressed concern that many educational institutions are merely fulfilling formalities when it comes to research.
The seminar was inaugurated by former Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Syed Shahid Mehdi, who praised the Ghalib Institute for its sustained efforts in promoting research. He noted that, unlike other institutions that have slowed down over time, Ghalib Institute continues to fulfill its mission with vigor. Mehdi also remarked that research is a painstaking process that requires proper training and that presenting a paper at a conference is just as important a skill as writing it.
In his welcome address, Ghalib Institute’s Secretary, Professor Sadiq-ur-Rahman Kidwai, expressed his admiration for the Research Scholars Seminar, stating that it not only trains students but also brings them closer to one another. He highlighted that scholars from abroad are invited to the seminar and always represent their countries and institutions in the best possible way.
The seminar was chaired by renowned Hindi writer and critic, Professor Vishwanath Tripathi. In his presidential speech, he noted that the compatibility between the subject of research and the researcher is crucial for fulfilling the true essence of research. He described research as a challenging journey and emphasized that those who are hasty or view everything from a materialistic perspective cannot endure the rigors of this field. He advised educators to consider the natural inclinations of students when assigning research topics.
Dr. Idris Ahmad, Director of Ghalib Institute, shared that the Research Scholars Seminar began in 1999 and has continued ever since. He expressed pride in the fact that many who participated as scholars in the initial seminars are now teaching at prestigious institutions or have established themselves in the field of literature.
The academic sessions of the seminar will be held on September 21 and 22, from 10 AM to 5 PM at Aiwan-e-Ghalib.
