Right-Wing Members Storm Haji Malang Dargah, Chant Slogans and Perform Pooja

Thane: A viral video circulating on social media shows a group of right-wing activists forcibly entering Haji Malang Dargah in Thane district, chanting slogans like “Jai Shree Ram” and “Ek hi naara, ek hi naam, Jai Shree Ram,” while waving saffron flags.

Despite the presence of a police officer, the group continued their chants and performed aarti (pooja) inside the dargah. Some of them were seen proudly recording the incident.

The Haji Malang Dargah, located on Malang Gad hill, is a revered shrine believed to be the resting place of Hazrat Haji Abdul Rahman. It is also known as Panch Peer, as it houses the graves of his five followers. The site is visited by people of all faiths, but some Hindutva groups have long claimed that it was originally a temple. The viral video has reignited this debate.

The Dargah Committee strongly condemned the incident, calling it “outrageous and unacceptable.” A committee member expressed his frustration, stating:

“Such incidents cannot be tolerated. Authorities must take action before this escalates further.”

While an official statement from law enforcement is still awaited, several social media users have warned that neglecting such incidents could lead to communal unrest.
