Maharashtra: In a disturbing incident, right-wing activists allegedly sprinkled cow urine at a location in Maharashtra where a group of Muslim women had earlier offered namaz. The act, widely condemned on social media, has sparked outrage among civil society groups and political leaders, reported the Madhyamam.
The incident occurred shortly after a peaceful prayer gathering by women, which was held in response to recent anti-Muslim sentiments in the region. Soon after the prayers, a group of right-wing workers reportedly arrived at the spot and performed the act in what many are calling a clear attempt to provoke and insult the religious sentiments of the Muslim community.
Eyewitnesses and local residents expressed anger and demanded that strict action be taken against those responsible. Activists called the act not only disrespectful but a threat to communal harmony in the state.
Police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
