Chennai: The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Chennai, organised a two-day workshop titled “Preventive and Therapeutic Approaches for Musculoskeletal Disorders through ‘Ilāj bi’l Tadbĭr (Regimental Therapy): Recent Initiatives” here on December 23-24.
The workshop focused on blending traditional Unani knowledge with modern research to develop innovative solutions for musculoskeletal health. Participants received hands-on training in various regimental therapies, learning standard operating procedures for these treatments. Attendees included AYUSH practitioners, faculty members, students from diverse institutions, and CCRUM scientists.
The event brought together experts, professionals, and healthcare enthusiasts, creating a unique platform to explore the synergy between ancient healing practices and contemporary therapeutic approaches to musculoskeletal disorders.
Key highlights of the event included inauguration of ‘Master Health Check-up and Unani Sehat Consultation’ services at RRIUM, Chennai, and the release of promotional materials for Unani Medical and Wellness Tourism Centre for domestic health seekers. Additionally, flyers were unveiled for establishment of In-Silico Labs at RRIUM Chennai and CRIUM Lucknow, signalling significant advancements in Unani research and healthcare services.
The inaugural session began with Tamil Thaaivazhthu invocation. Dr. Athar Parvez Ansari, Research Officer (Unani), welcomed the guests and participants. Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General of CCRUM, delivered the presidential address, while Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, delivered the chief guest address. Guest of Honour addresses were presented by Dr. R. Velraj, Former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Chennai, and Prof. G. Senthilvel, Director In-charge of the National Institute of Siddha, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
