Kyiv– Russia has unleashed yet another devastating assault on Ukraine, deploying its largest-ever barrage of drones and missiles. Over the past night, more than 700 unmanned aerial vehicles and a series of ballistic and cruise missiles struck multiple Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv and the western hub Lutsk , reported the Reuters.
Ukrainian air defenses responded swiftly, intercepting hundreds of drones and missiles. However, two civilians were tragically killed and at least thirteen others were injured in Kyiv, where widespread fires broke out in residential and public buildings .
The wave of attacks represents a significant escalation in the three-year conflict, with analysts noting that Russia’s intensified drone production is now capable of overwhelming Ukraine’s aerial defenses . In response, NATO scrambled jets amid fears of cross-border spillover, especially near the Polish frontier .
Former U.S. President Donald Trump sharply rebuked Russian President Vladimir Putin, branding his actions as “bulls**t” and warning that ceasefire negotiations are being undermined by Moscow’s aggression . Following Trump’s public condemnation, the U.S. resumed arms shipments to Ukraine—sending Patriot missiles, artillery shells, and precision rockets—while Congress advanced new sanctions targeting Russian energy exports .
Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy has also urged allies to impose “biting sanctions” on Russian oil and accelerate military support as nighttime air raids increasingly push civilians into metro stations and shelters .
