Samajwadi Party Distributes Rs.5 Lakh Compensation to Families of Sambhal Riot Victims

A delegation from Samajwadi Party, led by senior leader Mata Prasad Pandey, visited Sambhal on Monday to fulfil Akhilesh Yadav’s promise of providing Rs.5 lakh in compensation to the families of those who lost their lives in the November 24 violence. The incident claimed five lives and left 20 police personnel injured.

The delegation included Samajwadi Party lawmakers Iqra Hasan, local MLA Iqbal Mehmood, and MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq, who is among those accused in the Sambhal violence case.

“Our national president announced Rs.5 lakh compensation for the kin of the deceased. We are here to deliver the cheques,” Pandey told reporters, according to ANI.

This visit follows Akhilesh Yadav’s earlier promise to support the victims of the violence. Commenting on the political climate, Yadav took an indirect swipe at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, referencing ongoing excavation activities in the state and humorously suggesting that a shiv ling might also be found at the CM’s residence.
