Jaipur: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) held a protest here Tuesday, condemning the violence and police action during a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Protesters assembled at Subhash Chowk Circle, chanting slogans and demanding accountability from the government.
Dr. Shahbuddin Khan, SDPI’s state vice-president, criticised the incident as a blatant violation of the Places of Worship Act, 1991. He remarked, “This situation has escalated due to the obstinacy of the Uttar Pradesh government. Families affected by this tragedy must be compensated, and strict action should be taken against those responsible.”
Party state executive member Mohammad Khalid accused the government of discriminating against minorities. “By undermining the sanctity of the Constitution, the government is attempting to suppress minorities,” he said.
Zafar Ahmed, SDPI Jaipur district president, vowed that the party would continue its fight. “We warn the government that if it fails to act against the culprits, we will intensify our movement,” he declared.
The protest saw mammoth participation from SDPI workers, all united in their demand for justice and chanting slogans against the government.
