Sana Khan’s Passion for Vermicomposting has Made Her Successful Entrepreneur

Sana Khan, an entrepreneur from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has turned her passion for vermicomposting into a thriving business. Her venture SJ Organics has set an example for women entrepreneurs or those craving to become entrepreneur with an impressive annual turnover of ₹1 crore.

Initially Sana wanted to become a doctor, but her journey took a different turn when she failed to clear the medical entrance exams. During her engineering studies, she was introduced to vermicomposting through a college project and became fascinated with the process of using earthworms to convert organic waste into nutrient-rich compost.

In 2014, with support from her brother, Sana established SJ Organics. Despite facing initial challenges in marketing her product to farmers accustomed to chemical fertilizers, she persevered by educating them about the benefits of organic farming. Today, her company processes around 500 tonnes of waste monthly and produces approximately 150 tonnes of vermicompost.

Sana’s commitment extends beyond her business; she actively promotes sustainable practices by consulting over 100 schools in Meerut to set up their own vermicomposting sites.

Through training programs and workshops, she empowers others to embrace organic farming methods. With aspirations to expand her operations further, Sana is not only making a significant impact in agriculture but also inspiring future generations of entrepreneurs.
