Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eid al-Adha will be observed on Thursday, June 6, 2024, after the crescent moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah was sighted on Sunday, May 26, reported the Madhyamam.
Accordingly, the first day of Dhul Hijjah falls on Monday, May 27, and the Day of Arafah, the most important day of the Hajj pilgrimage, will be observed on Wednesday, June 5. The Hajj rituals will begin on Tuesday, June 4, when pilgrims proceed to Mina, followed by the Day of Arafah and then Eid al-Adha the next day.
The announcement was made by Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court, which extended warm Eid greetings to Muslims worldwide. The annual Hajj pilgrimage attracts millions of Muslims from around the globe and is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Saudi authorities have completed comprehensive preparations for the smooth conduct of Hajj, including crowd management, healthcare facilities, and transportation arrangements for the safety and ease of the pilgrims.
