Saudi Arabia Launches ‘In the Prophet’s Steps’ Project in Madinah

Madinah: Saudi Arabia has unveiled a ground-breaking initiative, “In the Prophet’s Steps,” which meticulously recreates the historic route of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his migration from Makkah to Madinah, reports the Saudi Gazette.

The project was officially launched on Monday by Prince Salman bin Sultan, Emir of the Madinah Region, in a ceremony held near Mount Uhud. The event was attended by Prince Saud bin Mishal, Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region, along with scholars and senior officials.

In his address, Prince Salman underscored Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to preserving and enhancing Islamic heritage, particularly in the Two Holy Cities. He highlighted the nation’s extensive efforts to enrich visitors’ spiritual journeys by strengthening their connection to the Prophet’s life and legacy.

The “In the Prophet’s Steps” project aims to offer a deeply immersive experience, allowing visitors to trace the Prophet’s ﷺ migration route and explore key historical landmarks. The initiative includes the restoration of 41 sites along the 470-kilometer path between Makkah and Madinah.

A central feature of the project is the establishment of five interactive stations that narrate key events of the migration, complemented by a dedicated Migration Museum designed to educate visitors about this pivotal chapter in Islamic history.

Prince Salman emphasised that this initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to revitalise and activate significant Islamic heritage sites. He stated that these efforts reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to preserving its rich religious and cultural legacy while ensuring an engaging and spiritually enriching experience for visitors.

Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, highlighted that the project aligns with the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to showcase the Kingdom’s historical and civilizational heritage.

He confirmed that “In the Prophet’s Steps” will officially open to the public in November and will continue for six months. The initiative has been meticulously developed in collaboration with historical and governmental institutions to ensure authenticity and accuracy.

This project marks a significant step in Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to blend spiritual heritage with modern experiences, offering pilgrims and visitors a unique opportunity to connect with the Prophet’s journey in an unprecedented way.
