Saudi Arabia Releases USD 90 Million to Palestinian Authority to Ease Fiscal Strain

Amman: Saudi Arabia transferred USD 90 million to the Palestinian Authority during a formal ceremony in Amman. The support forms part of Riyadh’s pledges for 2025 and targets the growing financial stress facing the Palestinian government due to declining revenues and Israeli restrictions.

Saudi Ambassador to Jordan and non-resident envoy to Palestine Prince Mansour bin Khalid handed the tranche to Estephan Salameh, the Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Acting Minister of Finance. Officials described the support as a practical intervention to help the PA meet essential financial obligations and stabilise core services during a difficult period.

Prince Mansour said the Kingdom maintains steady political and financial backing for Palestine. He noted that the current transfer will reinforce critical sectors, including health and education. He also pointed to Riyadh’s diplomatic activity as co-chair of the recent high-level conference in New York that focused on strengthening global engagement with the Palestinian question. The conference produced wider international support for the two-state framework.

Salameh thanked Saudi Arabia for its sustained help. He said the contribution provides important relief as the PA deals with revenue shortages, salary cuts and rising fiscal pressure. He linked the crisis to Israel’s withholding of clearance revenues, which form a major portion of the PA’s income.

The current assistance follows an earlier Saudi pledge of another USD 90 million announced in September through an emergency coalition that aims to stabilise the PA. Riyadh’s support continues to play an important role in keeping essential services running and in maintaining the PA’s financial resilience.
