In a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia’s higher education sector, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has broken into the list of the world’s top 100 universities. This achievement marks the first time a Saudi institution has earned a spot in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2025, reported the Madhyamam.
According to the report, KAUST secured the 95th position globally, reflecting its excellence in research, innovation, and international collaboration. The university has rapidly advanced in academic reputation and citation impact, driven by its focus on science and technology and strategic global partnerships.
This recognition is being celebrated as a major accomplishment for the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 plan, which emphasizes investment in education, research, and development to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues.
Saudi education experts hailed the news as a sign of the country’s growing competitiveness in the global academic landscape, and many believe it will further inspire other Saudi universities to reach international benchmarks.
