SBF Appeals to the Nation to Help Flood-Hit Assam

New Delhi, July 9: India’s premier NGO Society for Bright Future (SBF) has made an appeal to the Nation to participate in Relief Activities for Flood-Affected Areas of Assam. Flood has caused massive destruction in Assam.

Rising water levels of the Brahmaputra River have started wreaking havoc, affecting approximately 2.3 million people across 29 districts and resulting in more than 58 deaths. Over 39,300 people have taken shelter in 247 relief camps, with countless others still struggling.

According to a report by ASDMA, the western and northern regions of Assam are severely impacted. In response to this dire situation, SBF volunteers are working tirelessly alongside the government for relief and rescue efforts. SBF, a non-governmental organization under Vision 2026, has been dedicated to disaster relief and rescue operations for several years. Trained volunteers from SBF, located in 13 states across India, are prepared to provide immediate assistance during any natural disaster.

So far SBF volunteers have evacuated thousands of people from 38 locations in 11 districts in northern Assam to safer areas and have provided immediate help based on their needs. Around 14,725 individuals from 2,945 families and over 260 cattle have been rescued by SBF volunteers. Food has been provided to 24,300 people from 800 families, and medical assistance extended to 5,830 individuals from 1,006 families.

Overall, SBF has provided relief to 45,115 people. SBF volunteers are continuously conducting relief and rescue operations in collaboration with ASDMA and SDRF teams.
