Why Project Rahat?

Cold and Heat waves in Northern India take hundreds of lives each year. According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), since 1980, more people have been killed by cold waves as compared to heat waves. The study also found a 506% increase in the number of cold waves the country has witnessed in the last one decade. Every year North India comes under the grip of severe cold waves, worsening the condition for homeless people.

As part of Project Rahat, SBF engages with these people in several states of North India during winter. The beneficiaries are provided with 1.8 KG mink blankets to help them survive in harsh weather conditions. The project helps minimize cold wave-induced fatalities to homeless people, spreading warmth and empathy towards fellow human beings.
