New Delhi: In a significant development, the Supreme Court has confirmed that cash was found at the residence of Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma during a fire that broke out on March 14. The revelation came through an internal inquiry report released by the High Court on Saturday, reported the Times of India.
According to the redacted report, Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, in a letter dated March 21, sought an explanation from Justice Varma regarding the presence of cash in a room at his official bungalow.
Following the incident, the Supreme Court announced that no judicial work would be assigned to Justice Varma for the time being. Additionally, the Delhi Police has been directed to provide his call records and details of the security staff at his residence.
The incident has raised concerns regarding judicial integrity and accountability, prompting legal experts to call for a thorough investigation.
