Senior Supreme Court lawyer Indira Jaising will receive the 5th Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented at a program in Udaipur on 19th April. She will also deliver a talk titled “Judicial Accountability and Appointment of Judges” during the event.
Jaising is a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. She served as Additional Solicitor General from 2009 to 2014. She was an expert member of CEDAW from 2009 to 2012. She is the founder of Lawyers Collective. She also founded the legal magazine www.theleaflet.in.
Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer (1939–2013) was an academic, human rights activist, and writer. He founded and chaired the Centre for Study of Society and Secularism.
