A routine air-conditioner service call turned ugly when a homeowner demanded that a Muslim technician leave her premises the moment he disclosed his faith, threatening to set a dog on him if he stayed, reported the Clarion India. The location of the incident remains unverified, but the worker’s phone video has ricocheted across social media, laying bare yet another flashpoint of everyday Islamophobia.
In the clip, the flustered serviceman asks, “Did you say a Hindu should be sent?” The woman, noticing the recording, orders him to stop filming and “get out,” declaring that “Muslims disrupt Hindustan.”
Shaken, the technician tells viewers, “Under this scorching heat, a man is first asked about his religion. She said Muslims create trouble in the country. Is this where we’ve reached?”
The hostility comes amid a surge of anti-Muslim sentiment following last month’s Pahalgam attack. Civil-rights group APCR recently logged 184 hate-crime incidents nationwide this year alone.
This is not an isolated episode. Earlier, Devmani Sharma, New Delhi co-convenor of the BJP, publicly refused Muslim AC technicians from Urban Clap, also invoking Pahalgam to justify his bias and insisting on Hindu workers.
Rights advocates warn that such everyday exclusions—denying a livelihood based on faith—pile up into a suffocating climate for India’s largest minority.
