Senior Congress leader Jaber Patel passes away

Hyderabad, March 13: Senior Congress leader and well-known entrepreneur Jaber Patel, who passed away in Hyderabad on Tuesday night, was laid to rest today.

A large number of Congress leaders and workers attended his Namaz-e-Janaza at Shahi Masjid, Public Gardens. The burial took place at Jamali Kunta graveyard in Toli Chowki.

Jaber Patel was taken to a hospital in Himayat Nagar on Tuesday night after he complained of severe chest pain. He succumbed while undergoing treatment. He was 49.

Advisor to the Telangana Government and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir has expressed deep condolences at the passing of Jaber Patel. “Jaber Patel was more than a politician; he was a dynamic figure in social circles. He led the All India Minorities Forum, working on important issues within the Muslim community. As president of the India Arab Friendship Foundation (IAFF), he worked to strengthen ties with Arab nations. Patel also played a key role in promoting cricket in Saudi Arabia through the Jeddah Cricket Association,” said Shabbir Ali in his condolence message.

Shabbir mentioned Patel’s annual Dawat-e-Iftar during Ramadan, which drew people from all walks of life. “However, this year, on the first day of Ramadan, he passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest. It’s still hard to believe that he’s gone,” he said.

Shabbir Ali visited Jaber Patel’s residence in Red Hills to offer his sympathies. He also attended the funeral prayers.

The Congress leader prayed to the Almighty Allah for Jaber Patel’s Maghfirah and for his grant of a high place in the Jannatul Firdous.
