New Delhi: The Government of India has appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Mukhtar Mohsin as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Sashastra Seema Bal, as part of a significant administrative reshuffle involving senior security officials.
Mohsin, a 2005-batch IPS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, has been entrusted with the key responsibility in the border-guarding force, which plays a crucial role in safeguarding India’s frontiers and maintaining internal security.
Prior to his new assignment, Mohsin was serving on central deputation as Deputy Director/DIG in the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). His transfer to the SSB has been effected through a lateral shift within central security and law enforcement institutions.
The appointment is being viewed as an important career milestone for the senior officer, who has held several significant positions during his service. With his experience in policing and crime records administration, Mohsin is expected to contribute to the operational and strategic functions of the SSB.
The SSB, one of India’s Central Armed Police Forces, is tasked with guarding the country’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan while also assisting in internal security operations when required.
Officials said the appointment forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership within key security agencies and enhance coordination across law enforcement institutions.
