In recognition of his literary contributions, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has been honoured as the “Inspirational Literary Figure” by the Silk Road Literature Award committee. This accolade places him among the distinguished figures celebrated by poets and literary figures across countries situated along the ancient Silk Road, reported the Madhyamam.
The announcement was made during a cultural event held in China, where the committee praised Sheikh Mohammed’s role in promoting poetry, literature, and cultural dialogue. The panel cited his poetry collections and writings, which reflect themes of wisdom, tolerance, and human values, as key reasons for his selection.
Sheikh Mohammed’s contributions to Arabic literature, especially his efforts to revive Nabati poetry and support for young poets through various initiatives, were also highlighted. His vision of blending leadership with creativity has inspired literary communities worldwide.
The Silk Road Literature Award celebrates individuals whose creative works bridge cultures and foster mutual understanding between the East and the West. This recognition underscores the UAE’s growing influence in the global cultural and literary arena.
