SIO Advocates for Library Facility Upgrades at JMI

New Delhi, May 9: In a proactive move aimed at enhancing the academic environment, the Students Islamic Organization (SIO) of India, Jamia Millia Islamia unit has submitted a memorandum to the university’s Head Librarian, urging for significant improvements in library facilities.

Mohammed Saad, SIO-JMI president outlined key concerns affecting the quality of the reading environment and user experience. Chief among these concerns is the issue of inadequate air circulation, leading to discomfort and unpleasant odor within the library premises. To address this, the memorandum proposes the installation of air purifiers to create a more conducive studying atmosphere.

Saad also highlighted the insufficient availability of drinking water, particularly during peak hours, stressing the need for additional water coolers to ensure students’ hydration and focus. Moreover, concerns were raised about the presence of mosquitoes, which not only disrupt students’ concentration but also pose health risks. Immediate action is sought for mosquito control measures.

In addition to these issues, Saad pointed out the challenges related to washroom cleanliness and odor, which significantly impact user comfort and overall experience within the library.

While acknowledging the complexities faced by library management, SIO-JMI emphasized the urgency of addressing these concerns. The proposed upgrades, including the installation of air purifiers, addition of more water coolers, mitigation of mosquito issues, and enhancement of washroom maintenance, are deemed crucial for fostering an environment conducive to academic success and student well-being.

SIO-JMI has called for immediate attention and resource allocation to implement these necessary upgrades, underscoring their commitment to improving the library facilities for the benefit of the university community.
