SIO Andaman Embraces Ramadhan Spirit: Unity, Charity & Guidance at Forefront

Port Blair, March 10: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) Andaman organized a profound event on “Welcome Ramadhan: Together in Prayer, Charity & Gratitude” here Saturday. The program aimed at fostering a sense of communal unity, spiritual reflection, and practical guidance as the Islamic month of Ramadhan approaches.

The event commenced with a soulful recitation of the Holy Quran by C. Faheem, setting a contemplative tone for the proceedings. Following the recitation, Abdul Jabir, SIO Andaman Zonal President, extended a warm welcome to the attendees and introduced the esteemed guest speaker, S. Ameenul Hasan.

The highlight of the event was the Keynote Address delivered online by S. Ameenul Hasan, Vice-President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. In his insightful discourse, he emphasized the significance of Ramadhan as a period of spiritual refinement and self-discipline. He emphasized, “Every believer is a striver, and fasting during Ramadhan serves as a training ground for leading a purposeful life focused on both worldly contributions and eternal rewards.”

Furthermore, he elaborated on the importance of planning for the sacred month. He stressed the need to identify personal weaknesses, enhance strengths, extend assistance to the less fortunate through charity (Mawaasat), intensify outreach efforts and dawah activities, and prioritize and plan supplications (duas) throughout Ramadhan.

The event which served as a poignant reminder of the importance of connecting to Allah’s words, charity, and gratitude in Islamic practice, encapsulating the essence of Ramadhan’s teachings and aspirations for a spiritually enriching experience, concluded with guidance and a Vote of Thanks extended by M.K. Mohammed, JIH Andaman President. The Halqa President explained the criticality of proactive planning in maximizing the spiritual benefits of Ramadhan. He urged attendees to heed the advice presented by the guest speaker and implement strategic approaches to make the most of the upcoming month.

The program witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 300 individuals from GIO (Girls Islamic Organisation), and SIO attending the sessions held at Wimberlygunj and Port Blair, respectively. The engagement and enthusiasm displayed by participants was a sign of the community’s collective commitment to spiritual growth and communal solidarity as they prepare for the blessed month of Ramadhan.
