Vijayawada: Naitika Yuva Kala Vedika, Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with the Students Islamic Organisation of India, Andhra Pradesh, launched the statewide “Morality and Digital Ethics Campaign” under the theme “Reclaiming Human Dignity in the Age of Algorithms” at the Press Club in Vijayawada.
The campaign seeks to promote responsible digital citizenship, ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, cyber safety, media literacy, digital well being and protection of human dignity. Organisers said the initiative will include seminars, workshops, awareness programmes, public interactions and educational activities across Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at the launch, Golla Narayana Rao, representing the Polavarapu Cultural Society, said societies progress through moral and cultural values alongside technological advancement. He stressed the need to strengthen ethical awareness and social responsibility as Artificial Intelligence continues to reshape daily life.
Kareemuddin, Educationist and General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Andhra Pradesh, said education should produce morally responsible citizens along with technically skilled individuals. He said ethics, character and social responsibility remain essential for a humane digital society.
SIO Andhra Pradesh State President Aamir Fahed said young people face growing exposure to misinformation, cyberbullying, online exploitation, hate speech and irresponsible online behaviour. He urged students to promote truth, critical thinking and ethical leadership in digital spaces.
Presenting the campaign objectives, NYKV Director Mohammad Ubedur Rahaman cited the National Crime Records Bureau report showing 1,01,928 cybercrime cases registered in India during 2024, including a 17.9 percent increase from the previous year. He also referred to UNICEF’s Disrupting Harm study and UNESCO’s recommendations on Artificial Intelligence ethics, calling for technology guided by human rights, accountability and human dignity.
The organisers appealed to educational institutions, parents, policymakers, media professionals, technology experts and civil society organisations to work together for an ethical and responsible digital society.
