SIO Calls for Education Minister’s Resignation Over UGC-NET Exam Cancellation

21 Jun. 24: The abrupt cancellation of the UGC-NET June 2024 exam due to integrity issues has ignited widespread outrage among students, educators, and political parties. This incident highlights the recurring failures of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which have severely undermined student trust following previous controversies with the NEET and CUET exams.

The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has issued a strong statement demanding the resignation of the Education Minister, accusing both the Minister and the NTA Chairman of incompetence in their roles. SIO’s statement also calls for a comprehensive investigation into the NTA’s procedures and advocates for significant reforms, including the removal of the NTA from its role in conducting exams.

The cancellation has led to significant logistical losses and inflicted immense mental distress on thousands of students. In response, SIO has called for nationwide protests, urging the entire student community to join in.

This development underscores the urgent need for accountability and reform within the country’s examination processes to restore faith in the system.
