SIO Demands Indian Govt to Condemn Gaza Attacks

The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Andhra Pradesh, launched its “Palestine Solidarity Week” with a strong and symbolic demonstration, setting the tone for state-wide action in support of the Palestinian people. After Jumah (Friday) prayers, members of SIO Yerragondapalem held placards and raised slogans demanding justice and international accountability for the genocide in Gaza. The programme was led by SIO Unit Secretary Safiyulla, along with active members Nasar, Irfan, Noman, Arafath, Meeravali, and Adnan.

Joining them in solidarity were members of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Yerragondapalem, including Unit President Rasool, and members Saleem, Rafi, and Gaffar. The local masjid’s congregation also participated, adding weight to the collective voice raised for Palestine.

This impactful local event marks the Palestine Solidarity Week, being observed across Andhra Pradesh to highlight the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, where thousands of innocent civilians, including a disproportionate number of children and women, have been killed by indiscriminate Israeli airstrikes.

SIO Andhra Pradesh condemned the continued genocide, forced displacement, and systematic human rights violations against the Palestinian people. Despite global outrage and repeated calls for ceasefire, the Indian government and much of the international community have failed to take a strong moral or humanitarian stand.

Key Issues Raised by SIO:

  • Constant bombing and destruction of civilian infrastructure;
  • Blockade of humanitarian aid, including food and medical supplies;
  • Forced eviction of Palestinians from their homes;
  • Targeting of educational institutions, journalists, and medics;
  • Detention and torture of civilians, including minors; and
  • Clear violations of international law and UN resolutions by Israel.

SIO Andhra Pradesh Demands the Indian Government:

  • Official condemnation of Israeli aggression and war crimes;
  • Suspension of all military and trade relations with Israel;
  • Support for global investigations into human rights violations;
  • Immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza’s hospitals and relief efforts; and
  • A public reaffirmation of India’s historical support for the Palestinian cause.

Throughout the week, SIO will conduct webinars, college-level awareness campaigns, digital protests, and interfaith solidarity programmes. The campaign will feature prominent voices from the human rights community in India and abroad.

SIO Andhra Pradesh invites all students, educators, and justice-loving citizens to actively participate in this week of action and stand with the people of Palestine in their struggle for freedom and dignity.
