SIO Launches Nationwide Campaign on Moral Living to Combat Youth Sexual Perversion

New Delhi, June 24: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) initiated a 20-day national campaign titled “Moral Living: Transforming the Self and Society” at the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) headquarters here Thursday. The campaign, running from June 20 to July 20, aims to address the challenges faced by young people and guide them away from addiction to sexual perversions, particularly at the initial stages.

  1. Ameenul Hasan, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, emphasized the alarming rise in sexual perversion among youth, describing it as a pandemic. He highlighted the importance of addressing this issue early to prevent it from escalating into severe disorders that can ruin young lives.

Hasan explained the four categories of youth in terms of sexual perversion:

  1. Youth who have completely avoided sexual perversion and are considered innocent and closer to the Almighty.
  2. Youth who were previously involved but have fully recovered.
  3. Youth currently struggling with these issues but unable to break free.
  4. Youth in a complete mess, requiring medication and counseling to recover.

He warned that these problems could lead to issues such as loneliness, hair loss, deteriorating skin tone, depression, shame, laziness, low self-esteem, erectile dysfunction, memory loss, cramps, lack of creativity, inactivity, anti-social tendencies, social anxiety, increased risk of heart attack, premature ejaculation, weakened immune system, chronic constipation, lack of motivation, dirty thoughts, and low confidence. Hasan suggested solutions, including social mixing, stress management, limiting technology use, and rehabilitation programs.

Ramees Ek, National President of SIO, concluded by stating that purposelessness and moral crises are key issues today. He highlighted the conflict between traditional life concepts based on the Quran and Sunnah and the rise of modernity, which he believes pulls youth away from the righteous path. The campaign seeks to raise awareness among youths about these challenges and guide them accordingly.

OR Naufal, National Secretary of SIO, introduced the campaign’s theme, stressing the importance of understanding the origins and complexities of these problems. The campaign aims to address youth issues, explain contemporary complexities, and seek solutions based on Islamic teachings for a purposeful and meaningful life.

In summary, the campaign targets one of the most critical challenges faced by young people today: sexual issues, including inappropriate relationships, social etiquette breaches, and objectification due to exposure to explicit content and pornography. This desensitization has normalized behaviors like self-gratification, contributing to heightened sexual anxiety among the youth.
