SIO member Afran Muzammil passes away in Canada

Hyderabad, Feb. 16: A member of Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) Secunderabad, Shaik Muzammil Zafar Ahmed passed away in Canada.

Also known as Afran Muzammil, he was 25 and was pursuing Masters in computing/IT from Conestoga College, Waterloo Campus in Kitchener City in Ontario since December 2022.

According to his family members, he was suffering from fever for the last one week but they received a call from his friend today that he died of cardiac arrest.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Saddened by the loss of Br. Afran Muzammil, a devoted soul from SIO Secunderabad, who passed away in Canada. His sincere dedication and kind-hearted nature will be dearly missed. May Allah grant him forgiveness and eternal paradise,” SIO Hyderabad said.

In a letter to external affairs minister S. Jaishankar, Muzammil’s family requested him to direct the authorities concerned to send his mortal remains to Hyderabad as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Consulate General of India in Toronto contacted Muzammil’s friend in Canada and explained the whole process of repatriation of mortal remains.

The officials shared their contact details with him and assured all possible assistance for early repatriation of mortal remains to India.
