A delegation from the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Rajasthan Zone met with Sikar Lok Sabha MP Amra Ram and submitted a memorandum addressing critical issues related to the discontinuation, delay, and restoration of scholarships for minority students, OBC, SC, ST, and Non-NET students. The memorandum called for urgent attention to these concerns in Parliament.
The key demands outlined in the memorandum include:
1. Prompt Disbursement of Pending MANF Scholarships: The delegation urged immediate release of pending Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) funds and compensation for students affected by delays.
2. Restoration of Scholarship Schemes: Reinstatement of schemes like MANF, Padho Pardes, and Pre-Matric scholarships to support marginalized students.
3. Timely and Transparent Selection for OBC Scholarships: Publication of the National Fellowship for OBC (NFOBC) selection list in a timely and transparent manner.
4. Revision of Scholarship Amounts and HRA: Adjustment of scholarship amounts and House Rent Allowance (HRA) to align with current inflation rates and urban living costs.
5. Review of NSP Blacklisting Process: A thorough review of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) blacklisting process to ensure genuine institutions are reinstated.
The delegation comprised Advocate Anees Rahman (General Secretary, SIO of India), Mohammad Adil Saifi (State President, SIO Rajasthan), and other state-level office bearers of the organization. SIO expressed hope that MP Amra Ram would raise these issues in Parliament, urging the government to take concrete steps to restore scholarships and reverse budget cuts affecting students. The organization emphasized the need for immediate action to ensure educational opportunities for marginalized communities are safeguarded.
