New Delhi, August 12: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) organised State Youth Conference at Masjid Ishaat-e-Islam, Abul Fazl Enclave, here on Sunday, 11th August 2024. The program was organised as a concluding event of SIO’s campaign “Moral Living: Transforming the Self and Society”, carried out from 5th July to 11th August, nationwide. Esteemed speakers like Maulana Khalil-ur-Rahman Sajjad Nomani, Maulana Waliullah Sayeedi Falahi, Dr. Muhiuddin Ghazi, Salimullah Khan, Ramees EK, Imrul Quesh and Razi al Hasana addressed the audience.
The Chief Guest of the conference, Maulana Khalil-ur-Rahman Sajjad Nomani pointed out that Allah Almighty has blessed man with two great powers: desires and action. If the direction of our desires is corrected, it becomes a great choice for action. The other power, action or struggle, is necessary to achieve the realization of dreams.
The Maulana cited Europe and America as examples, stating that there are separate schools for the children of the ruling class and those of common people. These schools provide civilized education, without coeducation, and place a high weight on values.
He added, “It is my wish that the members of SIO will insist on their own personal reformation through daily recitation and understanding of the Holy Quran, Nawafil prayers, and fasting. It is important for students to strive for academic excellence and to become models of academic success. Muslims in India must engage in social activism on behalf of all communities if we are to truly realise the ideals of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.”
Earlier, in his inaugural address, Mr. Imrul Quesh, President of SIO, Delhi Zone, referred to the saying of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on valuing youthhood before old age. He said that if our youngsters utilize their abilities and talents, paths to revolution will prosper.
Mr. Razi Al Hasan, secretary SIO Delhi, emphasized the principle of “Islam: A Path of Moderation” and appealed especially to students and youth to adopt a moderate approach and move forward as a community by eliminating differences and embracing diversities.
Mr. Salimullah Khan, President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Delhi, highlighted the importance of education for students and invited all to become Muslim who can be useful to the people, regardless of their religion and ethnicity, by presenting a just incident of Amr bin Al-Aas as an example.
Mr. Ramees EK, President SIO of India, while elaborating on the importance of the theme of the conference, said, “The SIO has presented the most important challenge of the youth today. The youth today is suffering from moral crisis and we have tried to introduce the concept of Islamic ethics through this campaign. Our children and youth are the future of the country. At a time when western ideologies and culture are being promulgated in our campuses, it is crucial for us to instil in our children and youth a proper understanding of religion. We, the students shouldn’t worry, and should strive to apply Islamic principles in such circumstances. We call upon the students to stand with us in the fight for religion.”
The SIO President also requested the parents seated there to enrol their kids in SIO so they can become the future propagators of Islamic ideas.
Dr. Muhiuddin Ghazi, national secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, emphasized the values given by nature that differentiate man from animals. He said, “We are connected with the caravan of Allah’s religion and we should thank Allah for it. Islam has given respect to man, while the poisonous air coming from the West deprives people of being human.” He stressed not to call the western culture a civilization and urged the youngsters to give their lives a purpose.
In his presidential address, Vice President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Waliullah Sayeedi Falahi, stated that Islam places more emphasis on a person’s inner development than on their outward look. Today’s world is rife with cruelty and moral crises and youth should use their morality to fight against injustice and corruption. He prayed, “Through your actions, we hope that you will bring about a moral revolution on campus.”
The program came to an end with the Dua (invocation) of Maulana Khalil-ur-Rahman Sajjad Nomani. Despite rain and inclement weather, the program ended on time with thousands of people participating.
