Yerragondapalem: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India, Yerragondapalem unit, organised a dignitaries’ Iftar gathering during the holy month of Ramadan, bringing together community leaders, government officials, educationists, journalists, and members of civil society. The event aimed to promote communal harmony, mutual understanding, and awareness about the spiritual significance of Ramadan.
The gathering was attended by several distinguished guests, including Coastal Andhra Regional Organiser Chand Basha, Markapur District President P. Safiyulla Khan, and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Unit President S.A. Rasool. Addressing the audience, the speakers highlighted the importance of Ramadan as a period of self-discipline, spiritual reflection, and service to humanity. They explained that fasting not only strengthens faith but also teaches patience, compassion, and empathy towards the less fortunate.
During the programme, the speakers also spoke about the constructive role played by the SIO in empowering youth through education, leadership development, and social service initiatives. They encouraged students and young people to actively participate in community development and contribute positively to society.
Several dignitaries from different sectors also attended the event, including Mandal Education Officer-1 Anjaneyulu, Mandal Education Officer-2 Mallu Naik, Government Hospital Superintendent Yadidya, Chaitanya School Chairman Veera Chari, Church Father Prabudas, and Krishna Veni School Principal Dr. Krishna. Their presence reflected the spirit of interfaith goodwill and cooperation.
The gathering also saw the participation of journalists, doctors, and educationists who appreciated the initiative taken by SIO to bring together people from diverse backgrounds. They emphasised the need for such platforms that encourage dialogue, unity, and social responsibility.
JIH members Athar Basha, Rasool Khan, Gaffar, Rafi, Khasim Khan, and Modhin, and SIO Yerragondapalem Unit Secretary Noman, Campus Secretary Nasar, and members Vaseekh and Arafath also participated.
The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of SIO for organising the Iftar gathering and for continuously working among students to promote moral values, educational awareness, and community service.
The event concluded with the collective breaking of the fast (Iftar), where participants shared the meal together in an atmosphere of brotherhood, goodwill, and unity.
