SIO Yerragondapalem Hosts Istiqbal-e-Ramadan Programme

Yerragondapalem: With the blessed month of Ramadan approaching, the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Yerragondapalem Unit successfully organised an inspiring Istiqbal-e-Ramadan Programme at Masjid-e-Umar Bin Khattab. The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour, aiming to prepare the community to welcome Ramadan in a meaningful and disciplined manner.

The gathering was graced by the esteemed presence of Br Aamir Fahed, Zonal President of SIO Andhra Pradesh. In his keynote address, he elaborated on the true essence and objectives of Ramadan. He explained that Ramadan is not merely a month of abstaining from food and drink, but a comprehensive training period for developing Taqwa (God-consciousness), self-discipline, patience, gratitude, and compassion towards others.

Highlighting the challenges faced by the present generation, Aamir Fahed spoke about the increasing misuse of mobile phones and the growing addiction to social media among youth. He noted that excessive screen time is distancing young people from meaningful reflection, family interaction, and spiritual growth. In this digital age, he stressed, Ramadan offers a valuable opportunity to reduce unnecessary mobile usage and redirect that time towards recitation of the Holy Qur’an, remembrance of Allah (Dhikr), and productive activities.

He urged students and youngsters to consciously limit social media consumption during Ramadan and instead build a strong and consistent relationship with the Qur’an through daily recitation, understanding its message, and implementing it in their lives. He reminded the audience that the Qur’an was revealed in this blessed month as guidance for humanity, and reconnecting with it can transform individuals as well as society.

The programme witnessed active participation from members of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), JIH Women’s Wing, and Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO), reflecting unity and collective commitment towards moral reform and community development. Their presence strengthened the spirit of cooperation and brotherhood.

Speakers also emphasised the importance of sincerity in actions, supporting the needy, engaging in charity, and promoting positive character among youth. Participants appreciated the initiative, stating that the session served as a timely reminder to prepare mentally, physically, and spiritually for Ramadan, especially in the context of modern-day distractions.

The event concluded with a collective dua seeking Allah’s mercy and blessings, praying that He enables everyone to make the best use of Ramadan, stay away from harmful habits, strengthen their bond with the Qur’an, and emerge as better individuals and responsible members of society.
