Aligarh: Sir Syed Hall (South), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a One-Day Outreach cum Workshop titled “Transforming Education for Self-Employment: NEP 2020 and the Evolution of Skill Development” at the Common Room of the hall. The workshop witnessed active participation from over 100 attendees including students, faculty members, and invited guests.
The event aimed to promote awareness about the transformative aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a particular focus on skill development, career-oriented education, entrepreneurship, and the vision of a self-reliant India under the “Viksit Bharat @2047” initiative.
Dr. Abdur Rauf, Provost, Sir Syed Hall (South) and Patron of the event, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the critical role of educational reforms in equipping youth with practical skills for self-employment.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Ajay Vardhan Acharya, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Aligarh. He elaborated on the key provisions of NEP 2020 related to vocational training and experiential learning, and shared real-life examples of successful implementation strategies that foster entrepreneurship and job creation.
An engaging interactive session followed, moderated by Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad, where participants discussed challenges and opportunities related to NEP implementation and skill-based education.
Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, General Warden of the Hall, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed appreciation to all participants, speakers, and organisers. Special acknowledgment was given to Mr. Mohd Ubaid, Senior Hall and Coordinator/Convenor of the event, for his coordination and leadership.
The event reaffirmed AMU’s commitment to aligning higher education with national development priorities.
