Skill is your visa to your career, AMS freshers told

If education is your passport, skill is your visa for a prospective career. As to the maxim, Yahya Rasheed, Director and Global Head – Digital Foundation, HCL Technologies while addressing the freshers during the 26th Induction Day event held at Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering (AMS) at Avadi in Chennai had a word of praise on the management for bringing the best out of their students through various initiatives.

In his motivational talk, he urged the students to stay focused on developing their skill sets in tune with the industry needs in the wake of technological development, more particularly in the IT sector as Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT has made inroads into almost every sector. Hence, he appealed to the freshers who entered the portals of education after their Plus Two to make use of the facilities offered by the institution and to excel.

He called upon the freshers to be prepared to face the challenges, putting up a brave face as they will be facing acute competition in the job market. Be attentive, Be positive and Be sportive to achieve what they wanted to be after their course.

The chief guest further emphasised updating their knowledge and talents in their line of interest. Think out-of-the-box to emerge successful.

He later recognised department-wise toppers with the highest cut-off marks (2025 admissions) at the function. He went on to say that it is a matter of great pride for them for getting admission to one of the reputed minority institutions across Tamil Nadu which was instrumental in churning out scores of engineers, entrepreneurs, top honchos and what not. Noteworthy to mention that Induction Day which is an annual feature year-after-year was celebrated with great enthusiasm, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for the first-year students.

Earlier, the dynamic principal Prof. Dr. K.G. Parthiban, who showed his administrative and academic prowess at Coimbatore Dhaanish Ahmed Institute of Technology (DAIT) before taking the reins at Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering (AMS) recently, in his welcome address, greeted the freshers and highlighted the importance of discipline, dedication, and academic excellence in shaping their future.

Earlier, H. Mohamed Salegh, Secretary & Correspondent, in his presidential address, encouraged the students to make the best use of the institution’s facilities and to uphold the values of hard work and perseverance. Further, he assured that computer science and all other departments offer promising career opportunities, provided students focus on learning with understanding, obeying faculty guidance, and sharpening their skills and aptitude. The event was graced with the presence of General Manager TSK Shaikh Fareed, Advisor Prof. Mohamed Abdul Khader, Vice Principal Prof. Dr. Salma Banu, Heads of Departments, faculty members, parents, and students, who all contributed to the grand success of the programme.

The induction ceremony concluded with a renewed sense of inspiration and commitment among the students, laying a strong foundation for their academic and professional journey at AMS College of Engineering.

Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering was established in the millennium year 2000 under the aegis of Aalim Muhammed Salegh Trust founded in the year 1990 by Dr S M Shaik Nurddin with a vision to combat the inequalities in the accessibility of education and had a strong belief that education has phenomenal powers to bring about substantial benefits to individuals at large. Thus, the Aalim Muhammed Salegh Trust came into existence.

The College is located at IAF Avadi, Muthapudupet Village, Thiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu with good access by Road, Rail and Airways. The College is spread over 10.88 acres with green campus initiatives and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The Institution is accredited by NAAC with “A” Grade and 4 Programmes are accredited by NBA and the Institution has been awarded with 2(f) Status by the UGC.

The Institution offers 9 Undergraduate Programmes, 4 of which are permanently affiliated with Anna University. We have highly qualified and dedicated Faculty Members in all Specializations. The is one of the Nodal Centres for conducting Tamil Nadu Government Naan Mudhalvan Courses. The College has collaborated with the ICT Academy since 2019.Under the guidance of chairperson Hajiyani S S Haseeba, the college is being ably administered by secretary and correspondent H. Mohamed Salegh.
