SP (Maharashtra) demands Removal of Pyare Khan from the Position of State Minority Commission Chairman

Mumbai: The Samajwadi Party has demanded the immediate removal of Pyare Khan from his post as Chairman of the Minority Commission, alleging that he is harming minority institutions instead of protecting them. Addressing a press conference at the Marathi Patrakar Sangh on Monday, Samajwadi Party Mumbai President Meraj Siddiqui warned that the party would approach the court and launch street protests if no action is taken.
Siddiqui accused Khan of making inflammatory statements against Urdu-medium schools, unjustly linking them to corruption based on a single case. “Instead of safeguarding minority rights, he is targeting institutions meant for their welfare,” he said. Siddiqui further questioned Khan’s rapid financial rise, urging an investigation into his assets.
The press conference was also addressed by Saeed Khan, President of the party’s Mumbai Minority Affairs wing, and Zeeba Malik, Principal of Mohammad Haji Saboo Siddik Polytechnic. Malik demanded an apology from Khan for his remarks, which she said have deeply hurt the Urdu-speaking community.
Saeed Khan called on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to curb divisive rhetoric from leaders like Pyare Khan and Kirit Somaiya, warning that such statements threaten communal harmony. The party’s legal cell is considering filing a case against Khan within the next few days.
