25 Jun. 24: The Islamic Guidance Centre in Goal Ghar hosted an Eid Milan Program at the IGC Auditorium last Tuesday. The event commenced with a heartfelt recitation from the Holy Quran by K. Hussain, which imbued the evening with a sense of reverence.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by N. Abdul Salam, Management Member of Crescent Public School. The event was graced by the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Keshav Chandra, IAS, who attended as the Chief Guest. Other esteemed guests included Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands; Swami Shuddhananda of Chinmaya Mission; Rev. Father Visuvasam Selvaraj, Bishop of Port Blair; and Giani Rajinder Singh from the Police Gurudwara. The chief guest and the honored guests were presented with bouquets as tokens of gratitude.
MK Mohammed, Chief Patron of the Islamic Guidance Centre, delivered the presidential address, reflecting on the life of Prophet Ibrahim and his message of universal brotherhood. Swami Shuddhananda highlighted the significance of unity and the shared essence of all humanity, regardless of different worship practices, and emphasized the importance of guiding the younger generation towards a positive future.
Rev. Father Visuvasam Selvaraj spoke about India’s rich cultural and religious diversity and the necessity of nurturing children’s spirituality to build a united community. Giani Rajinder Singh shared his thoughts on peace, noting that all places of worship strive for internal peace.
Bishnu Pada Ray expressed his dedication to serving the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands without prejudice, reinforcing the island’s status as a beacon of peace and unity. KP Mohammed Yunus from the Islamic Welfare Society elaborated on the profound significance and symbolism of sacrifices and the consciousness of God.
Chief Guest Keshav Chandra, in his address, highlighted the role of festivals in promoting unity and the importance of collective effort for communal happiness and development.
The event concluded with MK Mohammed presenting a token of appreciation to Keshav Chandra. MK Abdul Gafoor, a member of the managing committee at Crescent Public School, offered a vote of thanks, bringing the evening to a close with messages of peace, unity, and harmony.
