Stalin Assures Protection of Muslim Rights, Urges Unity against BJP Politics

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin has reaffirmed his party’s commitment to the Muslim community, assuring them that their rights will be safeguarded. Speaking at a Chennai gathering to mark the 1500th birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, he invoked the Dravidian movement’s legacy of equality and brotherhood while making a strong political appeal ahead of the Assembly polls.

Stalin recalled how DMK founder C.N. Annadurai and late leader M. Karunanidhi began their association at a Miladu-un-Nabi event in Tiruvarur, linking it to Tamil Nadu’s political growth. He highlighted his government’s inclusion of the Prophet’s teachings in school curricula during DMK rule and reiterated opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act and the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Positioning the DMK as a defender of minorities, Stalin urged Muslims to remain united against the BJP’s “despotic politics” and criticized regional parties for aligning with communal forces. Leaders of IUML, MMK, MJK, and SDPI also attended the event, underscoring calls for community unity.

Beyond state politics, Stalin condemned atrocities in Gaza and called for decisive diplomatic action by the central government. He framed his message around the teachings of Periyar, Annadurai, and Karunanidhi, aligning them with the Prophet’s principles of justice and compassion.

With elections approaching, his remarks signal a clear bid to consolidate minority votes while projecting the DMK’s secular identity and resistance to authoritarianism.
